STEADYRAIN: CONNECTING TOURISM AND TECHNOLOGY

SteadyRain hosted a technology party in conjunction with both the Missouri Governor’s Conference on Tourism and the launch of the redesigned Missouri Division of Tourism’s site, VisitMO.com.

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis based Internet strategy, design and development firm, SteadyRain hosted a technology party in conjunction with both the Missouri Governor’s Conference on Tourism and the launch of the redesigned Missouri Division of Tourism’s site, VisitMO.com.

SteadyRain, the Web solution firm for the Division, hosted 2Connect at Third Degree Glass Factory. An after party for those attending the Governor’s Conference, 2Connect was designed to engage those tourism industry members attending in conversations about their power to increase Missouri tourism by leveraging emerging technology. The event highlighted how SteadyRain’s work for the Division of Tourism, both present and future, impacts tourism in the state.

“People in the tourism industry are like everyone these days; they are looking to get more benefit from the marketing budget dollars they have to spend. Likewise, online marketing, social media, and mobile technology naturally lend themselves to this industry—it’s all about getting people enjoying the state of the Missouri,” said Thompson Knox, Vice President of Internet Strategy.

In an effort to educate attendees on how tourism and technology are more intertwined now than ever, 2Connect highlighted both mobile technology and online marketing. These points of interest debuted a self-promotional Apple iPad application and an online marketing quiz that was designed to test knowledge on search engine optimization, paid advertising, and social media.

2Connect also featured some of SteadyRain’s other clients who showcased their products and services including Great Rivers Greenway, Kakao Chocolate, Kaldi’s Coffee Roasting Company, Missouri Botanical Garden, Six Row Brewery, and St. Louis Women’s Journal.

“We have found ourselves in a unique situation with many of our clients where bringing people together from tangent industries could have real value for both clients and for the St. Louis area,” Knox said. “This event was our kickoff to try to bring these great people together in a room, to have some fun and, well, ‘2Connect’ them.”
