The 1st Royal Thai Army Area Chief Unveils Plan To End Public Crisis

The 1st Royal Thai Army Area Chief Kampanat Ruddith will send 335 army soldiers to Bangkok

10/10/2014 (press release: JaturontThan) // Kittima Chanwattanasil

The 1st Royal Thai Army Area Chief Kampanat Ruddith will send 335 army soldiers to Bangkok and its surrounding areas to listen the problems of locals people. The aim of the Royal thai Army ’s action was to try to find solutions by passing on the grievances to relevant agencies, so they can be dealt with.

Lieutenant General Kampanat Ruddith unveiled the plan while presiding over a training course attended by 335 army soldiers of the civilian affairs operations unit, which will be sent to the areas.

It will support the plan of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) to create an improved understanding among local people towards the military and its roles.

By listening to their grievances, soldiers can forward the issues raised to relevant agencies for solutions, said Lieutenant General Kampanat, who is also chief of the army’s peace-keeping force.

The soldiers also plan to help create better understanding among locals about the monarchy and democracy.

The task force would work with the National Reform Council (NRC) in compiling various issues that need to be addressed in each area, he said.

A five-member unit would be deployed in each of Bangkok’s districts to work with the local communities and convey their opinions to the NRC.

The officer insisted the deployment of the soldiers in various communities was not aimed at uprooting any particular colour-coded political group.

We listen to the opinions of all people and will meet with the National Council for Peace and Order to exchange infomation. The government will supervise the administration, while the National Council for Peace and Order will overlook the stability of the process, although they will assess the situation together. All aspects must be considered before withdrawing martial law, before the National Council for Peace and Order will make a decision on this issue, because the Army does not want something unexpected to happen. Therefore we must be careful,Lieutenant General Kampanat Ruddith said.
