FBI arrested a man from California suspected to have sent letters containing anthrax to a lot of media outlets. He was arrested on Wednesday and FBI warned that mails may still contain threats.
The accused Marc M.Keyser is aged 66. He claims to have sent at least 120 envelopes. Content of the envelopes included a sugar packet labeled “Anthrax Sample” and also sporting a biohazard symbol along with a compact disc according to an FBI news release. “Anthrax: Shock & Awe Terror” was the title etched on the CDs.
Charges against Keyser included three incidents of hoax letters and he was arrested from his Sacramento home without any issues according to the FBI. His home was not difficult to locate as he had given his return address on some of the envelopes he sent said Steve Dupre an agent from FBI.
Keyser will appear in court on Thursday and it is not known whether a lawyer was going to represent him or not. He is at present in the Sacramento County Jail. Details of the CD contents are not revealed by the authorities yet. Packets too so far have not been tested positive for any kind of materials which are hazardous.
Dupre said further recipients over the next few days should immediately contact their local FBI office and hand over the envelopes. FBI investigations started after they received news from The Atlantic magazine saying they received the letter on Monday. Charlotte Observer newspaper received theirs on Tuesday. Two television stations in Sacramento, the Union-Tribune newspaper and a McDonald restaurant are few of the other recipients who have contacted the FBI.
