Dickey’s Barbecue Pit competes for the best barbecue title

Dallas, Aug. 23, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — What Happens When Legit. Texas. Barbecue.™ is going to Brazil and taking part in the largest barbecue event in the world? It absolutely smokes the competition!

Yes, second place in the pure cue kitchen proves one thing… Dickey’s Barbecue Pit Takes over the world, one perfectly cooked Texas-style grill plate after another.

Dickey’s Brazil Owners and Key Staff Members teamed up and competed against 28 other teams from around the world in the name of the barbecue at the Meatstock BBQ Wars on July 8-10. More than 30,000 people flocked to the Lucky Wings Arena in Sorocaba, São Paulo to enjoy music and barbecues during the three-day festival.

The competition featured five different barbecue protein staples including brisket, pork ribs, pork butt, chicken and lamb, each judged based on a taste test by different judges. Bruno Gallucci, Arthur Fumis, Luiz Henrique and Thiago Pattas joined captain Luana Santos and eventually finished in second place, just three points behind the winners. The moment was particularly gratifying for Santos, who is also Dickey Brazil’s first-ever pitmaster.

“It was an amazing experience bringing our pitmasters in front of the store to represent Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in the competition,” said Bruno Gallucii, co-owner of Dickey’s Brazil. “We learned a lot about team spirit and how important it is to motivate our crew. We laughed a lot, had fun and most importantly – we showed all Brazilians what Legit. Texas. makes a barbecue!”
