MIAMI, Fla., July 21, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Bitwage once again switched to futuristic mode by collaborating with Luana Pinheiro (10-1-0 record at No. 15 strawweight division) to allow her to become the first female To become the world’s UFC fighter and generally the first Latin American athlete in the world to receive her paycheck in bitcoin. By using Bitwage, Pinheiro, the Brazilian phenomenon with an eight-fight win streak, can be paid in bitcoin without having to negotiate a bitcoin payment with her promotion (UFC).
Luana’s boyfriend, 7th-ranked flyweight (18-2 record) Matheus Nicolau, switched to Bitwage back in March this year, making them a true UFC power couple by bitcoin standards. Both have UFC championship aspirations and hope to earn bitcoin for their fights as they climb the leaderboard.

Pinheiro, a judo black belt from a family full of black belts, has been immersed in the martial arts since he was two years old. “I don’t think I’ll have a problem with Bitcoin going down or up,” says Pinheiro. “If it weren’t volatile, it wouldn’t be going up either. Black belt time preference I call it. Everything else is just noise to me and the lower the price, the more bitcoin I can secure for the future.”
This deal is one of many being made possible by Bitwage – a company known for its premium payroll service that allows anyone in the world to get paid in Bitcoin without their employer having to be on board. Bitwage, founded in San Francisco in 2014, makes crypto payroll faster, cheaper and accessible to everyone in the world.
People usually think that some kind of integration is required for someone using their service, or their employer…
