Support history and progress

With early voting in Siler City Mayoral Elections set to run from April 28- May 14, and Voting day on May 17th, there is a possibility that the city will have the first Hispanic mayor elected in NC as well as the youngest in the nation.

Nick Gallardo, 23, aims to lead the Siler City to a more equitable and prosperous town. While declaring his candidacy, Gallardo said, “We are running against decades of neglect and policies, that have simply not been in the best interest of the majority of the town. We want to design an inclusive government that involves all people. We want to build Siler with Siler.” Gallardo who was born in Austin, Texas, and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, graduated from Leesville Road High School in 2017. His background is a source of inspiration for his commitment to serving his community and family.

Gallardo has been helping others since early in his life. He has always been passionate about spending time with his friends and family. His older sister, who has Down syndrome, has inspired him to push himself to be a better person. He adds that he acquired a passion for helping others from his sister. As a member of the first generation of his family born in the United States, Gallardo is proud that multiple generations of his family have served in the U.S. armed forces. Gallardo believes his family members have significantly influenced the person he is today.

Although Siler City is a Hispanic area, the population has not seen any representation on the town council. As a result, the Hispanics have suffered horrendously from the current town policies. Nick Gallardo is coming to change all this. He is running on a Unity 2022 Vision plan supported by Dean Picot, running for an At-Large Council seat, Sam Williams, running for the District 1 seat, and Jared Picot, running for the District 5 seat.

He promises to offer servant leadership to transform the Siler City, address inequalities, and make life better. He is coming to make the Siler City values and voices heard. As a town full of hardworking people, Gallardo adds that his leadership will provide opportunities to all.
