Addressing a conference to mark the beginning of 10-day Eid Miladun Nabi celebrations, the prime minister said he himself would be the patron of the proposed authority.

Asking for assistance from general public in the government’s fight against corruption and rising sex crimes in the country, PM Imran released a statement on Sunday saying that he intended to establish a multi-purpose Rehmatullil Aalamin Authority (RAA) with the main goal of “explaining Islam to the world” and propagating the doctrines of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) among the nation’s youth.

The prime minister said he would be the advocate of the planned organization during a conference to mark the start of the 10-day Eid Miladun Nabi festivities.

Khan presented a comparison between western and Pakistani cultures during his 55-minute scholarly speech, in which he discussed his own experiences of living in England as a young student and later as a cricketer, stressing both the positive and negative elements of the two civilizations.

“For how long can the government fight corruption alone? But a society can fight it because it is the society’s money which is stolen,” Khan stated. He cited China, the United Kingdom, and Singapore as examples of societies that do not tolerate corruption.

Mr Khan, in an implied reference to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supreme leader and 3-time prime minister Nawaz Sharif, said: “A man is delivering speeches while sitting in London after looting the public money. When his people will shower flowers on him, then who will consider theft a bad thing. If the society will not fight, then how many corrupts can a government catch?”

As per the prime minister, obscenity is the country’s 2nd most serious problem, following corruption. He regretted that anytime they addressed obscenity, a so-called liberal group began to raise a ruckus, claiming that they were regressing civilization to the dark ages.

The prime minister stated that shortly after taking office, he was informed by an IG police that “sex crimes,” including rape and child abuse, were on the rise in the country. He said that the DIG of the region painted a “terrible image” of the scenario regarding sex crimes in Punjab’s Kasur district.

Khan criticized Hollywood and Bollywood for the expansion of obscenity in society and expressed sorrow that scholars in the nation did not play a part in informing the youth about the adverse effects and repercussions of these sins. Rape and child abuse victims, he claims, do not pursue their cases out of humiliation for themselves and their families.

Obscenity, according to the prime minister, was a societal sickness that was having a negative and devastating influence on social and family life. He encouraged religious experts to use their studies to help put an end to obscenity and save “our family system.” He said that the notion of “veil” was given by religion in order to maintain the family institution.

Khan added that the rate of divorce in society had reached an alarming rate, and that based on his personal experience, divorce had a very negative and painful impact on children who wished to live together with their parents.

“I have seen what destruction is caused by divorce. I have the children. We had divorce. There is no bigger curse than divorce,” he said, addressing a solemn audience comprised of his ministers and some minority members.

He lamented that the government had to introduce laws to halt the rising incidences of children trying to evict their elderly parents from their homes.

The premier then asked the media to play its part in this. “We cannot stop the expansion of media, social media and technology, but we should engage our youth and tell them about the Islamic values and the two choices they have.”

He stated that a cartoon series will be developed to raise children’s knowledge of the national ethics and culture.
