According to the company’s official statement, there was no backdoor implantation in its products in Pakistan.

Lahore, Pakistan, United States, 08/21/2021 / Pakistan News Bureau /

Stating that there is no evidence of Huwaei stealing the trade secrets of Pakistan and it has spied on Pakistan, Huawei cleared the allegations against it. According to the company’s official statement, there was no backdoor implantation in its products in Pakistan. The clarification from the company came forward after the allegations that have been made against Huawei by the Business Efficiency Solutions that is also called (BES)LLC. This company is based in the US, and this was some serious allegations that caused a wave of questions among not only the users of Huawei but also among the competitors and the government. The Business Efficiency Solutions sued Huawei in a California federal court. The company allegedly stated that Huawei has been stealing the trade secrets of their country and has been sharing them with the Punjab government. According to BES, Huawei has been doing this for some projects of the Punjab government.

The allegations against Huawei don’t stop here. The complaint further stated that Chinese technology giants also helped Huawei by creating a backdoor for them. This backdoor allows the company to access sensitive data that is of high importance to Pakistan’s national security. At the same time, Huawei filed for negotiation in Islamabad court after the statement released by the tech company Business Efficiency Solutions on Tuesday. The file asked for negotiation against BES over ‘ongoing contract disputes’ in September 2018.

The negotiation process is ongoing for now. The company stated recently, ‘Huawei respects the intellectual property of others, and there is no evidence Huawei ever implanted any backdoor in our products The allegations in the suit stemmed from a long-running legal dispute between the companies.’ The company further stated that “Huawei hired BES to provide software and other services to help it win the rights to build Lahore’s Safe City project in 2016. The relationship soured, and Huawei sued BES in Pakistan, where BES also sued Huawei. Those proceedings are ongoing. BES is no longer operational and has no revenue,”

The statement also said that Huawei had acknowledged setting up a different version of the Lahore project in China in comments to the Wall Street Journal; however, it was a test version that was physically isolated from the customer’s live network. “This made it impossible for Huawei to extract data from the customer’s live network,” the statement said.

The allegations further state that in 2016 Huawei made contact with Business Efficiency Solutions worth 150 million dollars bid. The bid was being developed for creating software for a government program—the program aimed to introduce a technology that would assist enhanced police and law enforcement in Pakistan. In the complaint, the company further explained that eight software systems were being developed for Huawei. In the complaint filed by the BES, Huawei didn’t pay for any of the projects that BES developed for it, and now it is misusing the software against the sensitive data. Chinese tech giants are helping them to build up a backdoor for manipulating information.

After the statement, Mr. Kamran Khan, the Punjab Safe City Authority Chief Operating Officer, stated that a legal team had been formed to check for data leakage and did more profound research on the allegations made by the BES. It is still in the process, but he stated that they hadn’t found any violation. “Out of the seven software systems agreed upon, the authority has only received three till date,” he said
