It’s been a few years since composer, lyricist, music producer and vocalist Raymond Coats released his successful album, “Simply Raymond. Fans of this two-time Blues Singer of the Year award recipient’s music, including myself, have waited patiently for his next project. Now, we bring you the first single, a funky blues original “Take Me Back to the Old School”, from this world renowned blues vocalist’s forthcoming new album entitled “Just Friends”. The music of Take Me Back to the Old School was originally written by Lionel Randolph and lyricist Raymond! These two collaborated with Jeff Kevin Northrup (also world-renowned rock guitarist) to give Take Me Back an energetic blues flow. The music is also produced and arranged by Lionel, who is with Raymond and who also plays guitar and bass on the track and in Raymond’s West Coast Groove Band.
This is not the first time Raymond Coats and Lionel have worked together…but each time they do get together…you know your ears are about to go on a musical “vocal bound” journey. Raymond and Lionel are definitely delivering the piece from the forthcoming album. Raymond has previously quoted that his “magnetic voice draws people together” and that he does do well in his singing. Urban Contemporary Adult music listeners, most assuredly, can expect him to deliver the “Old-School” on this album, as well.
