Nationwide trucking company Ryder will pay $630,000 to settle a lawsuit that accused the company of widespread harassment, discrimination and retaliation against different groups of minority workers. Discriminating against someone based on their race is illegal under state and federal labor laws. Employees of different ethnicities should not be singled out for the least favorable job assignments, nor should they be subject to harassment, says Grover, a Los Angeles employment lawyer.
