A new podcast from Camfil Farr — the world’s leading provider of clean air solutions — is now available on the company’s website. The podcast, which covers industry hot topics as well as Camfil Farr’s innovations in the commercial air filter industry, was produced in conjunction with the company’s participation in the 4th Annual Medical Device and Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Quality Assurance Forum, which took place October 11 and 12 in San Antonio, Texas.

The podcast is hosted by Sean O’Reilly, Camfil Farr’s Global Director, Cleanroom & Life Sciences Segment, who most recently led the development of CREO, a software program to optimize energy conservation in the cleanroom industry. CREO, the latest example of Camfil Farr’s commitment to helping air filter users focus on the most efficient and cost effective products for their needs, is discussed in the nearly 20-minute program, as are other Camfil Farr innovations, including its well known Life Cycle Cost software, which enables users to see the total cost of ownership for the air filters they are considering.

As Sean points out on the podcast, LCC is critical, as the initial investment in a commercial air filter only comprises about 15 percent of its total lifetime cost, with the energy consumed making up a far greater portion, typically between 60 and 80 percent. Camfil Farr’s LCC software lets buyers simulate how prospective filters will perform, and what they will ultimately cost, in specific environments, factoring in variables including the types and number of filters used, disposal costs, and labor costs to change filters.

The podcast, which is available free of charge at www.camfilfarr.us/Industries/Bio-Pharma, also discusses current trends in the commercial air filter industry, including sustainability (a longtime Camfil Farr priority), the use of HEPA filters and how cleaning agents and other materials effect them, the trend of reducing the stages of filtration in order to reduce energy use, and the growing demand for global supply chain and support.

The podcast was recorded as part of Camfil Farr’s participating in the October conference, in which manufacturing and quality executives and experts from across the life sciences sector come together to share best practices in ensuring high quality manufacturing processes in the medical device and pharmaceutical industries.

For more than 40 years, Camfil Farr has been a leading supplier of air filtration products and services to pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies. It has been at the forefront of developing sustainable air filters — which are already providing users with HVAC energy savings of up to 50 percent — as well as tools like LCC and CREO that help customers home in on solutions that provide optimal performance, both technically and economically. The podcast is yet one more way Camfil Farr is working to educate air filter customers that sustainability, savings, and performance can go together — and work together, for a more healthful, and more energy efficient, future.
