Although salary is an important aspect of a new role, Nicoll Curtin has questioned whether a growing number of other factors are taking priority when it comes to people accepting a job.

The economic downturn – means many employers are unable to offer the generous salaries they once could. What is more, some firms are freezing wages or putting a ban on any bonus payments until they find themselves on a more stable footing and can feel confident of surviving the downturn.

As a result, many candidates are now looking for something else from their job. Other factors people might take into consideration include the location of the job, flexible working opportunities, IT set-up and the recognition they will receive for the work they do.

Allison Upton, Marketing Manager, Nicoll Curtin said: “While salary is obviously important, lots of people have other benefits they value from a job. If they travel a long way to get to the office, being allowed to work from home a couple of times a week could make all the difference to the amount of free time they have each day.

“Other benefits, such as a few extra days holiday a year or discounted membership to a local gym can also tempt people to a certain company, as it shows the firm is considering their needs and doing all it can to look after their health and wellbeing.”

Nicoll Curtin is an international IT recruitment agency that specialises in helping people find positions in the IT banking and finance, commercial, and public sectors. The company works with both candidates and employers that are looking for the perfect person to join their team.

The enterprise has won several awards, including the Best IT Recruitment Agency category at this year’s Recruiter Awards for Excellence.
