Employees at a leading travel agency in Aldridge are celebrating winning a top award for their dedicated community work and record breaking sales.

The team at The Co-operative Travel on High Street, which is part of The Midcounties Co-operative, was named Travel Branch of the Year by The Midcounties Co-operative, for their inspirational community efforts and business success in 2011.

From bungee jumps to sponsored walks, the travel agency has been heavily involved in various charity events and regularly help out in the local community. Last year they spent time pruning and watering flowers and shrubs in the area which won them the Silver award for the Aldridge In Bloom competition.

Samantha Fallon, Branch Manager said: “We are over the moon to have won the award. I’m very proud of the charity and community work our colleagues have done. They fully embrace helping others and making the community in which they work a better place for all.

“It’s the Co-operative way to give back to the community and our branch really enjoys helping others and coming up with ideas to help local groups.”

Branch manager Samantha is also a vice chairman on two governing bodies for a local education school and children’s centre.

The Midcounties Co-operative believe in giving back to the community and encourage employees to spend up to three days paid time volunteering as part of their extensive colleague volunteer programme
