Under federal employment laws, a person cannot be discriminated against based on their religious affiliation. But, if the employee actually harassed his co-workers with his religious beliefs, then NASA may have taken the correct action based on other workers’ complaints. While it’s not illegal to believe in your religion, it becomes a problem when you’re pushing it on other co-workers. This case is likely to be viewed as a straightforward employment case and not about freedom of speech.
