Urrikka Woods Scott, author, gerontologist and entrepreneur, has written a new career mapping guide that answers the question for many job seekers
in this economy, “How do I build a career with job security in a growing market?” According to the 2010 U.S. Census, 30 million Americans are older adults 60 and over (1 in 8 individuals). This population is soaring daily with the Baby Boom Generation turning 60 at a rate of 10,000 a day. The surge of older adults across the U.S. and worldwide present new challenges and opportunities for governments, public/private businesses, and nonprofits that serve seniors to meet the growing need of aging services and professionals to provide services to this population. Given this rising tide, a concerted national effort to encourage and entice students to explore the careers in aging was launched by the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education (AGHE).
