Regardless of a child’s economic status, kids need to be protected. Mr. Gingrich is misguided when he says child labor laws trap kids in a poverty cycle, as it’s unfair to place that burden on them, says Eric Grover of Keller Grover. Child labor laws protect children, who can be taken advantage of in the workplace–especially when they need to go to school, complete homework and just be a kid. Abolishing these laws would likely do little to help poverty and instead lead to undereducated kids.
