BP Negligence Lawsuit: BP, Halliburton, Transocean sued by survivors, families

Galveston, TX – The companies involved in the April 20, 2010 Deepwater Horizon explosion and subsequent oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico saw another negligence lawsuit filed against them on Thursday, May 13, 2010, as reported by click2houston.com.

The suit was filed in Galveston County court on behalf of dozens of survivors and families of victims of the blast and claims BP, Transocean, Halliburton and others were negligent.

An attorney representing the plaintiffs explained, “If David brought down Goliath with a slingshot, it only takes a single lawsuit to bring down a corporate giant like BP or Transocean.”

A sister of a man who was killed on the rig, Jacquelyn Duncan, included her experience with Transocean within the suit.

The lawsuit reads, “Upon hearing news of the explosion, she rushed to the Transocean offices to check on the status of her brother, Wyatt Kemp, who was working aboard Deepwater Horizon. Despite knowing her brother was already dead, Transocean told her that her brother was alive and well.”

Duncan seeks payment for all medical expenses, including past and future, all earning capacity from past and future and exemplary damages, according to the suit.

Transocean did not respond to questions regarding the suit, claiming it does not discuss litigation.

Also, spokespeople from BP and Halliburton stated their respective companies do not comment on litigation either.
