Towson, MD – A Maryland psychiatrist had his license to practice permanently revoked after the state board that oversees doctors found he had inappropriate contact with juvenile male patients under his care, as reported by The Baltimore Sun.
The Maryland Board of Physicians found that Miguel Frontera acted improperly in dozens of cases involving pre-teen boys. Frontera has been licensed with the state since 1988.
An investigation into the psychiatrist’s behavior began last year, after Baltimore County police turned over two reports of possible misconduct. The board believes he participated in improper conduct with five boys between the ages of 10 to 12, between 2000 and 2009. His license was suspended in November, before it was finally revoked this month.
Baltimore County police reported in November that officials consulted with the state’s attorney’s office and determined the allegations did not rise to the level of criminal activity. As of Tuesday, May 18, police would not comment if they would re-open their investigation.
Frontera’s attorney reported the doctor “adamantly denies the allegations made against him.”
Some of the boys who were thought to have been victim to Frontera’s actions came forward to authorities after the investigation began last year.
The doctor’s lawyer further reported Frontera voluntarily took and passed three polygraph tests, but signed the board’s consent order to revoke his license because of the expense he would incur defending himself.
Frontera worked for Clinical Associates in Towson.
