DETAILS:
Tarsha Weary is a self-taught web developer, graphic designer that studied computer science at Baker’s College as an online student from 1998 – 2001. At the time, Ms. Weary was a married mother of three small children; worked a full-time job for a German Automotive firm for seven years as a logistics manager. After 9-11, Tarsha Weary decided to become self-employed after realizing that life was too short to not live your dreams. Learning the hard way, she soon realized that she had no contacts, never started a business before, and didn’t know where to start. Without a lot of networking experience, funding was becoming harder to achieve since she and her husband were now both self-employed. In 2003, after a divorce, bankruptcy, and her newly found life of being a single mom the odds were totally against her in the eyes of others. However, to Tarsha Weary, life had just begun. She began to build alliances, network with anyone that would be in need of a website, business cards, flyers or just friendly conversation.

Well it paid off! Over the years, Ms. Weary has gained some powerful friends in business; Les Brown, Mildred Gaddis, Rory Gamble, Jimmy Settles, Henry Gaffney, Bishop Greg Davis, Deanna Nolan, Dr. George Smith of Chicago, along with a countless number of Pastors – just to name a few! Many business owners in Detroit and Metro Detroit have given her the opportunity to service them – over 600 businesses from 2001 to present! From start-up to large corporations, Tarsha Weary would not have achieved the level of success without each of them.

That is why this event is so important to Tarsha Weary. Based on the status of the economy in the State of Michigan, she is aware of the traps that are ahead for start-up businesses. As the host of “Controlling Your Future” for the last four years; she took her radio show from 1200 AM to 107.5 FM to its current status; an online radio show with BlogTalkRadio.com. “There are tons of opportunities available for people to expose their product or services to the world via the Internet,” says Tarsha Weary. “And now with the stimulus money (AARA) you can make your dollars go a lot further.”

With the help from the UAW Presidents, other major Presidents and CEO’s listed above, Tarsha Weary has been allowed to visit each plant and talk to UAW members to discuss their questions and concerns about being self-employed. This event is focused on bridging the gaps between the self-employed and the un-employed or retired by networking, maximizing exposure of products and services amongst each other; which is the foundation of any union!
