Dallas veterans medical malpractice attorney-Amy K-states VA hospitals expose 1000’s of vets to hepatitis

Dallas veterans medical malpractice lawyer-Amy K-alerts another VA hospital mass exposure!

Dallas, TX (–Officials, with the Veteran’s Affairs Administration (VA) and a Veterans Affairs hospital in Miami, have confirmed about 3,260 patients have been exposed to possible contraction of Hepatitis B, C and HIV. Military veterans, who underwent colonoscopies at the VA Medical Center in Miami, received letters from hospital officials stating the medical equipment used on them by doctors and nurses during their procedures had not been properly sterilized, as covered by CNN.

VA doctors discovered the error during a review of procedures and found the sterilization discrepancy of the colonoscopy equipment had been going on for about five years. Physicians and health care professionals are urging all veterans, who had procedures at the Miami VA in the last five years, to be tested for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV. The negligence, of the VA health care professionals who chose to not follow the national standards of care outlined by federal agencies in the sterilization, cleaning and handling of medical equipment, has left many veterans at high risk of Hepatitis and HIV.

Less than a month ago, news reports surfaced 6,378 patients at the Alvin C. York VA Medical Center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee were informed by official letters they may have been exposed to infectious body fluids during colonoscopies. Thousands of U.S. Veterans have fallen victim to medical malpractice at three known government health care facilities. Additionally, 1,800 veterans, treated at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia, discovered they were victims of medical negligence by the doctors and nurses treating them because of improper disinfection of medical instruments used in patient procedures.

The VA Medical Center in Miami is urging all patients, who had procedures with any type of “scope” equipment between May 2004 and March 2009 to contact the Veterans Affairs Administration and the hospital at 1-877-575-7256. If you or someone you know has served in any branch of the United Stated military, and have been injured at a government health care facility, including a Veterans Affairs Medical Center, you may be entitled to compensation for your damages and injuries. by Dallas Veteran Injury Lawyer Amy K.
