The first Gates-Sienfield ad is on the television now. This ad for Windows is the first of its kind and is made by the ad agency Crispin Porter + Bogusky, which bagged this $300 million contract with Microsoft.
This ad which gets a huge WTF from all at the Orbit HQ, is also on YouTube and Microsoft and Windows homepage. You can download it of stream it from these sites and watch. Even as you go back to the earlier ad Sienfield did for HP, you will certainly not be able to believe the difference.
Shot in a shoe store, the vista logo is subtly visible only towards the end and only once during the ad do Microsoft and Windows get mentioned. This commercial is actually quite effective though it may be considered quite lame because it doesn’t elaborate on the ‘real vista story’ details. A press release points out that this is the beginning and Microsoft’s first largest consumer marketing initiative and strategy.
The focus point of this campaign would be to get the message across to people on how far Windows has become a part of billions of PCs and even mobile devices. The strategy is to point out how effectively has Windows become an indispensable part of everyday life providing the consumer with an integrated experience.
Campaigns also aim to show consumer the extent to which Windows is being used on PCs, mobile phones and online effectively using Windows mobile, Windows Vista and Windows Live.
