/ EINpresswire.com / 9 March 2010, New York - Atlumin Energy, a leading supplier of minor metal-based products to solar module manufacturers, has established a partnership with Floridienne, the largest cadmium supplier and reclaimer in the world for over 30 years. This partnership solidifies Atlumin’s position as the most reliable source for the procurement, fabrication, and reclaim of cadmium containing materials. Atlumin’s partnerships with both MCP and Floridienne allow them to provide a unique turnkey solution for all minor metals used by solar manufacturers in both CdTe and CIGS technologies.

Solar module manufacturers welcome the cost and time savings that the Atlumin - Floridienne partnership enables. Previously, the supply chain involved several different organizations, each handling a piece of the cycle. Now, Atlumin sources, refines, fabricates, and supplies products. All this is done by managing regulatory details in an environment friendly closed loop system. Gregory Phipps, President of Atlumin notes: “this gives us opportunity to further compress the supply chain and create unique offerings for our customers. Our clients can focus on their core technology and development while we streamline and manage the supply chain. We are pleased that our new partnership helps solar manufacturers to minimize their capital investment and increase watts per unit cost.”

A key issue with cadmium in solar is the potential environmental ramifications, if mishandled. Atlumin and Floridienne, both are recognized leaders in clean materials handling. Atlumin has a rigorous closed loop system for all its minor metals, ensuring maximum use and reuse of these metals. Floridienne has a long-standing reputation for its zealous pursuit of clean materials processing. Simon Vlajcic, Managing Director of Floridienne notes: “the unwavering commitment of both Atlumin and Floridienne to environmental responsibility is based on known, well defined and controlled processes at work. Perhaps the most gratifying result of our new partnership with Atlumin is the ability to assure solar manufacturers and their clients that environmental issues are being managed by two highly committed companies supplying the solar industry.”

Atlumin Energy manufactures materials for the renewal energy market, including solar module manufacturers, with a focus on increasing efficiency. Atlumin products range from key elements, alloys, and specialty chemicals, to engineered fabrications, such as sputtering targets. Metals include cadmium, copper, gallium, indium, molybdenum, selenium, and tellurium. Atlumin also offers advanced recycling and reclaim programs. Atlumin is headquartered in New Hartford, New York, USA and manufactures in the Federal Republic of Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Atlumin is a subsidiary of the MCP-Group, a global metals supplier since 1929.

Floridienne is a Belgium based company with activities in minor metals, chemicals, biotechnology, agro-foods and venture capital investments. It is the biggest producer and reclaimer of cadmium based materials for solar, batteries and metallurgical applications. It is also a major player in the manufacture and reclaim of zinc, lead, and nickel based materials.

/ EINpresswire.com / San Jose, Calif., - The new EZ-Glider Position Control torque arms by Mountz Inc. help manufacturers detect and eliminate costly screw-fastening errors during the assembly process. Position Control torque arms are designed to reduce the risk of improperly fastened screws, ensuring that every screw is in the correctly tightened in the correct sequence. Using the EZ-Glider Position Control torque is like putting the eyes and ears of a quality control manager where they are needed most - right on the assembly area.

“Sequence based fastening is critical to proper process control and a quality fastening result for many applications,” said Brad Mountz, President of Mountz, Inc. “If an assembly exhibits cross talk, a phenomenon where torque to one faster changes the result to another in the in fastening pattern, altering the sequence is often necessary to achieve proper results. An encoded torque arm is perfect because it guides the operators sequence and provides feedback if done incorrectly.”

Assembly sequences are easily programmed for the EZ-Glider Position Control torque arms from an easy-to-use control box. Up to nine sequence programs can be stored and are manually or automatically selected for easy recall.

The EZ-Glider Position Control torque arm consists of a torque reaction arm with encoders mounted at the two pivot points and a control box. The control box is used for programming and it tracks the axis movement by converting angle counts to the precise X-Y position of the screwdriver. The X-Y location is calculated from encoder values, allowing the operator to easily teach the torque arm a programmed sequence pattern and then use it to control the assembly process. Programming is as simple as moving the driver over the sequence location and then pressing a button. Popular features are driver “lock out” which disallows activation of the driver if the wrong sequence is attempted and torque adjust, which automatically changes the driver torque to a new torque value if required.

The EZ-Glider Position Control torque arm is compatible with most air, electric screwdrivers and DC control systems. The torque arm can also interface with most intelligent driver systems that store multiple torque programs with external digital I/O control. The Mountz Position Control torque arm provides a smooth, flexible range of motion as the arm absorbs torque reactions general from clutch, stall and other electric & pneumatic screwdrivers.

Specify a Tightening Sequence: Why?
Many joints consists of more than one fastener and bringing together surfaces that are not completely flat can be a very challenging torque problem. The sequence of tightening fasteners can have a major influence on the resulting preload and clamping force, which is what holds two parts together. With such joints, consideration should be given to specifying the sequence in which the fasteners are to be tightened. Because the joint surfaces compress, tightening one fastener in the vicinity of another will affect the preload generated by the first fastener tightened. This is called Cross Talk.

A good tightening sequence ensures that an even preload distribution is achieved in the joint. Since joints containing conventional gaskets have a comparatively low compressive stiffness, bolt preloads in such joints are particularly sensitive to the tightening sequence. Based on experience, if the bolts are in a circular pattern, a cris-cross (star) tightening pattern would normally be specified. For non-circular bolt patterns, a spiral pattern starting at the middle would normally be specified. On critical joints or joints that exhibit relaxation, a tightening pattern that tightens the fasteners more than once can be specified to ensure an even preload distribution.

Specify Ergonomic Solutions: Why?
When planning a production area, it pays dividends for manufacturers in the long term to plan the ergonomics of the operation and consult a health and safety inspector or ergonomic manager. Ensuring both the workplace and the assembly operation are compatible with the majority of operators that handle the assembly tools, reduces future costs arising from work-related health disorders among operators, along with costs arising from poor product quality or lack of productivity.

Some key questions manufacturers need to ask about their production area.
- How often do your assemblers complain of fatigue or arm pains?
- How much does a typical injury cost the organization?
- How many workman comp claims have you had?
- How often does a health and safety inspector review your applications?
- What ergonomic solutions are being considered for that application?

EZ-Glider Position Control torque arms are designed to improve production and quality control during the assembly process. The ergonomic design of the EZ-Slider torque arm reduces RMI (repetitive motion injury) and CTS (carpal tunnel syndrome). The effortless handling of the torque arm provides comfortable tool operation and increased production. The Mountz torque arm eliminates torque reaction of power and pneumatic tools.

Colorado Springs, CO-Colorado Springs fire crews may have been exposed to a potentially deadly cancer-causing agent known as asbestos, when they responded to a house fire on Thursday, December 31, 2009. Firefighters rushed the house fire on the 5200 block of Tomah Circle around 6:15 p.m., where no injuries were reported, as reported by KKTV News 11.

Colorado Springs firefighters managed to get the blaze under control, which damaged only one room in the household. Three adults were at the home when the fire ignited and managed to escape after calling 911, when they heard popping noises and saw smoke. Fire officials are investigating the fire. The residents of the home are currently displaced while crews determine if asbestos is present in the home. The brave firefighters who battled the blaze may have unknowingly been exposed to the toxic asbestos fibers that may have been released into the air as the fire burned inside the home. Officials, residents, and onlookers, who were at the scene and not wearing protective gear, also could have inhaled the dangerous insulation material. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) http://www.epa.gov reported that according to some estimates, up to 35 million homes across the nation may be insulated with asbestos-contaminated Zonolite; the asbestos-containing insulation could become airborne if a fire broke out, or if any insulation was damaged prior to the blaze, which increases its chances of becoming airborne.

Here’s one way to drum up interest in a condo building’s lackluster sales.

Hire Palm Beach native Celerie Kemble, the stylish young New York decorator, to inject some youthful North-Lake-Trail-by-way-of-Park-Avenue zest to a model in the Landmark at the Gardens building. The 160-unit condo had the misfortune to come on line in 2007, well after the housing slide had begun.

More than two years after it opened, 50 units remain unsold, despite price cuts of as much as one-third. The sales team wanted a model apartment that would stand out against the glut of condos on the Palm Beach County market.

“Celerie understands luxury, and so do our clients,” said Beth Fisher, of Corcoran’s New York marketing group, who hopes to attract buyers very much like Kemble and her friends: well-heeled New Yorkers who commute to second homes in South Florida.

Kemble anchors the New York office of Kemble Interiors, the Palm Beach firm started by her mother, Mimi McMakin, and Brooke Huttig. The firm has built a reputation for color and whimsy in less formal versions of Old Palm Beach rooms. Earlier this year, the company refurbished the guest rooms at two venerable resorts: The Gasparilla Inn in Boca Grande and The Breakers in Palm Beach.
Last year, Kemble published her first book, To Your Taste: Creating Modern Rooms with a Traditional Twist.

The opening of the just-finished Landmark model recently was the occasion for a book-signing, where polished Palm Beachers and real estate salespeople mingled to look at the condo — and at Kemble, a Harvard-educated blonde who wears her friend Lela Rose’s dresses and makes frequent appearances in society pages and magazine profiles.

Yet, she’s no dilettante decorator. Kemble and her team had just eight weeks to design and install the 2,300-square-foot, 3-bedroom, 3-bath apartment. She even persuaded a fabric company to make a custom sofa fabric “in August, when the mills were closed.” Above all, the project had to be “accessible, affordable and have a sharp personality,” she said.

For most clients, Kemble tries to create a nuanced portrayal of a client’s personality in fabric and furniture. Designing for anonymous buyers was far different.

“My sense of a corporate model apartment is that it tends to look like a furniture showroom, decorated to the most middling, slightly formal taste,” said Kemble. “It’s the ‘offend no one, excite no one’ strategy.”

Instead, she wanted to distill Palm Beach’s sandals-and-caftans look, in colors “that I’m hungry for while in New York: kiwi, cantaloupe, limes, tangerines and pomegranate.”

Or thirsty for.

“They’re cocktail colors, that’s part of what Palm Beach is to me,” Kemble said. “For a lot of people, a condo like this is a second home so they’re looking to play out a fantasy. They say, ‘Please give me something where I take my shoes off and twirl in the sun.’”

EADS Delivers Disastrous 2009 Results

March 9, 2010 /EIN PRESSWIRE/ EADS, Europe’s largest aerospace company, posted a net loss of 763 million EUR and an operating loss of 322 million EUR in 2009, a major swing in the wrong direction from the 1.57 billion EUR net profit the company earned in 2008.

The main drivers of loss were the company’s turmoil with the A400M military aircraft and the ballooning A380 superjumbo jet expenses. Revenue, however, remained virtually unchanged from year to year as EADS reported revenue of 42.8 billion EUR in 2009, slightly down from the 43.3 billion EUR in revenue it saw in 2008.

In another setback, the company announced that it will not make a bid for a US tanker contract after its US partner, Northrop Grumman, dropped out of the running for the contract.

March 9, 2010 /EIN PRESSWIRE/ Israel says that it wants to build a nuclear power plant to alleviate its dependency on coal and natural gas, and it goes as far as inviting its Arab neighbors to help in the plant’s development.

The words “Israel” and “nuclear” used together can be a lightning rod in the Middle East, but Israeli infrastructure minister, Uzi Landau, tried to diffuse tensions, suggesting Israel hopes to develop nuclear energy in cooperation with scientists and engineers from “our Arab neighbors,” the AP reports.

Israel may be ready for the benefits of nuclear power, but is the country ready for extra scrutiny of their nuclear program in general, one that is rumored to have developed nuclear weapons in the past?

Last April a very pleasant gentleman called Pioneer Linens inquiring about linens for a romantic evening getaway he was planning for a very special lady in his life. The way he spoke of his plans and the amount of detail he envisioned was certainly remarkable, and so we started to put together a collection of bed linens and table linens for his special evening.

He had chosen a cottage in Sedona with a very romantic setting, a rustic pergola with a natural stone fireplace, a hanging double bed and very intimate dining table. In addition, he had hired his lady’s favorite chef to prepare her favorite dinner, a night to remember for sure.

When all was said and done, the bedding was romantic and fresh, SFERRA’s “Francesca” in white with the “Geneva” coverlet in white was chosen. A simple accent pillow with the word “Love” monogrammed on it completed the ensemble. The table linens, SFERRA’s “Orchard” tablecloth and napkins, were chosen to coordinate with the bedding.

When the couple returned, the gentleman commented saying the evening was “smashing and memorable”… and let’s hope it lead to “Happily Ever After.”

Let luxury bedding store, Pioneer Linens help you to create memories that will last a lifetime…
