Colorado – Jurors have found Colorado movie theater shooting suspect James Holmes guilty of murder. The Denver Post reported that Holmes, who was accused of killing 12 people at a theater in Aurora in 2012, acted deliberately in the incident.

Prosecutors argued throughout the trial that the shooting was a calculated act that Holmes had planned to carry out for months. Holmes had reportedly just broken up with his girlfriend prior and dropped out of school while attending the University of Colorado.

The defense countered by saying Holmes, who has been diagnosed with schizophrenia, held delusional beliefs and was controlled by his thoughts.

Jurors deliberated for less than 13 hours over a two-day period before reaching the verdict. They found Holmes guilty of two counts for each deceased victim and the 70 victims that were also wounded in the attack.

Holmes faces execution as punishment for the conviction.
