Kentucky – The son of Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul was involved in a car crash in Kentucky that resulted in him being cited for driving under the influence of alcohol. An AP report says that Lexington police say William H. Paul crashed into an unoccupied parked vehicle while driving a 2006 Honda Ridgeline Sunday morning.

Authorities were alerted to the accident by individuals who were nearby at the time. Sherelle Roberts, a spokesperson for the Lexington Police, said Paul was taken to the University of Kentucky hospital for minor injuries he sustained to his face. He was reportedly alone when the incident happened.

Roberts said Paul was not arrested at the time, which is the purported standard for the type of case.

Paul received a citation for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and failing to maintain insurance.
