General Prayuth Chan-ocha, the 38th Royal Thai Army Chief has handed over the position of Royal Thai Army Chief to General Udomdej Sitabutr, who after graciously accepting the position, was said to be pleased to be appointed the Royal Army Chief during a ceremony held on the 1st of October 2014.
The new Royal Thai Army Chief Udomdej Sitabutr said that Gen Prayuth was a professional soldier who had established an ideology and stance to work in the public interest and solve national problems.
He assured he would proceed with the policies of Gen Prayuth, to support the government and promote national unity and security.
Gen Udomdej also promised to do his best to resolve violent unrest in the far South.
In particular he is ready to continue the mission of the Royal Thai Army to ensure the sovereign protection of Thailand’s borders and peace. In addition he said we must be careful not to affect our good relationships with neighboring countries.
General Udomdej Sitabutr ordered all soldiers to continue thier duties and responsibilities to their best ability. All soldiers must take care of the Thai borders, maintain peace and create good relationship with neighboring countries.
In addition, the Royal Thai Army has a mission to improve the life quality of Thai people, which it will try to improve by publishing and adopting guidelines on how to live an exemplary lifestyle.
This appointment of the new Royal Thai Army Chief coincided with the appointment of a new Royal Thai Army Assistant Chief. General Theerachai Nakvanich was appointed the new Royal Thai Army Assistant Chief, while Lieutenant General Kampanart Ruddith was appointed the new 1st Royal Thai Army Area Commander.
General Theerachai Nakvanich said he was certain that the 1st Royal Thai Army Area, under the leadership of Lieutenant General Kampanart Ruddith, would be the pillar of the national sovereignty protection mission of the Royal Thai Army and would be a major force in developing the country to bring peace to the Thai people soon.
