Spirits on Bourbon Named a New York Television Festival Semi-Finalist

Spirits on Bourbon, Home of the Resurrection has been named by the New York Television Festival as a semi-finalists in the second annual A&E Unscripted Development Pipeline and will advance to the network for consideration. It was the only Louisiana submission to be recognized.

The idea was born when Brad Bohannan, who owns Spirits on Bourbon with Steve Smith, approached Lulu Marcil and KD Amond, about doing a show about his bar. Spirits on Bourbon had recently been featured on the show Bar Rescue. “I thought the idea for the show, based on the French Quarter and the interesting characters of South Louisiana, would make for great television. I am asked all the time what it is like to own a bar on Bourbon Street. I love that question because it gives me the opportunity to brag on a place that I not only love but that also provides constant free entertainment!” Together, they created the pilot and submitted it to the New York Television Festival.

Apparently, Bohannan was on to something. Today’s announcement from A&E solidifies the show’s concept has merit and potential. As semi-finalist, Bohannan, Marcil and Amond, have the opportunity to participate in the 2013 New York Television Festival as Official Artists. As such, they are invited to the 9th Annual New York Television Festival and enjoy exclusive opportunities available throughout the Festival.

Additionally, five finalists will be identified in the coming months and one winner will receive $10,000 and the opportunity to participate in the production of a pilot based on their concept.

“I feel honored,” says Bohannan. “Not just that we might win the contest, but to be recognized in any manner by the NYTVF, the industry’s first creative festival for television artists, is a wonderful feeling. It is a great opportunity to spot-light our city. Look out, New York, Bourbon Street is heading your way!”
