January 2013, Los Angeles, CA. Pamela Ferrari Productions, a state-of-the-art event design and management company headquartered in Los Angeles, returned to the Girari Glass Table Decorating Shootout to win not only the coveted People’s Choice Award for the second time, but also took home the First Place Award for outstanding design.
Girari, along with Town & Country Event Rentals, hosted the competition and industry mixer and invited some of the top event design industry pros to come together and show off their table top design skills. Each team was assigned one of the Girari signature sustainable glass tables and chairs in a different configuration as the setting for their vignette. The 8 competing teams had 5 hours in which to work their magic to vie for $10,000 in prizes. Promptly at 5:00 pm, all work stopped and designers cleared the design area while the panel of judges evaluated each team’s work. Guests and other industry professionals were admitted at 6 pm to view and also vote for their favorite tabletop for the People’s Choice Award. After sampling luscious treats and sparkling beverages the winners were announced to the cheering crowd
Pamela Ferrari Productions’ first appearance at the Girari Shootout Series was the spring 2008 Design Shootout featuring an outdoor garden setting at the Century Plaza Hotel. Her amazing tablescape, “A Feast for the Senses,” won the People’s Choice Award for its citrus-inspired design featuring giant urns containing live Monarch butterflies flanked by two life-sized sculptured ice waiters presenting trays of crystal fluted glasses of sparkling champagne.
Known for outside-the-box, eye-popping environments, her signature design element is sculptured ice in unique shapes and sizes. This year’s tablescape was inspired by a concept to use high-tech brushed hammered aluminum against tinted glass crystal and translucent green china set atop faux diamonds, for the “bling”effect.
When asked why she incorporates the ice in her designs she says, “Ice, more so than other innate material seems like a living organism – in constant motion. Its’ shape and dimension continues to change within its setting as it melts and morphs into a water feature. Watching this fascinates people and draws them into the design.”
The Pamela Ferrari Productions team featured Chisel-it Ice who provided the sculptured ice crystals suspended from the center truss which melted into a translucent tray of diamonds at floor level. Justin Howard from Flaming Flower Productions created couture- like floral designs featuring beautiful ebony Victorian candelabras perched at different angles on the center truss. He then laced orchids, strung like twinkle lights to the candelabra pedestals.
