Employee benefits company Edenred has strengthened its international market with acquisitions of some of the biggest food voucher issuers in Japan and Latin America, ensuring its success for the future.
Edenred’s acquisition of Barclay Vouchers has given the company access to the Japanese market, which will be the 39th country in which Edenred has a foothold. Japan has a record for excellent growth potential and its economy is swiftly expanding.
Barclays Vouchers is the only meal voucher issuer in the Japanese market, which will give Edenred direct access to a huge network of affiliates – 30,000 at the last count. The company also employs over 63 million employees, allowing Edenred to take immediate action in building up a name for itself in this part of the world.
Laurent Pellet, Chief Operating Officer of Edenred Asia-Pacific, said: “With this transaction, Edenred has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its presence in the Asia-Pacific region, which is a strategic growth territory, especially in terms of geographic development.”
According to Melantonio Filho, Edenred Brazil’s Chief Operating Office, Brazil is the company’s largest market and it has recently strengthened its presence there with the acquisition of Comprocard. This prepaid service voucher company has an estimated 4,000 clients and is the biggest contender in Espirito Santo, which is located in South-eastern Brazil.
Melantonio Filho said: “The purpose of the acquisition is to consolidate our leadership position and increase our presence in a region where the economy is booming.”
Edenred has reported expenditure of €28 million for Barclay Vouchers and €24 million for Comprocard, and with many opportunities for continued growth in the future the company is sure to see much success as a result of its recent acquisitions.
