Edenred childcare voucher roadshow offers support to employees…

… with older children. Childcare voucher experts Edenred is working with business across the UK this week…

07/10/2012 (press release: OnlinePR) // Chris Lewis

Childcare voucher experts Edenred is working with business across the UK this week to share the benefit these vouchers can bring to working parents with older children.

The childcare voucher team is currently undertaking a series of events and workshops at businesses throughout the country to help employees with older children plan for the summer holidays.

The UK-wide roadshow takes the theme of ‘summer holiday survival’ and is supported by Edenred’s dedicated communication toolkit giving information about childcare vouchers. The activity also includes an email competition aimed at clients’ employees to win a Nintendo Wii. The competition has proved a success, attracting nearly 1000 entries so far.

The roadshows have proved popular and the team has visited many businesses including Eastbourne General Hospital where the staff were given goodie bags and balloons, as well as information about the scheme and a summer holiday survival toolkit. Edenred’s activities form part of National Childcare Week run by the Daycare Trust.

Laura Czapiewski, Product Manager – Childcare Vouchers, at Edenred comments:

“Research has shown that many parents are still not aware that Childcare Vouchers can be used for older children up to the age of 15 years. Many parents mistakenly assume that childcare vouchers are only for young children whereas these vouchers can be used to pay for the care of children until the first September after their fifteenth birthday.

“Therefore, we created new communication materials including webinars with an ‘older children’ theme, providing information about the scheme such as where parents can spend childcare vouchers for school age children. For example, the vouchers can be put towards payment for activities such as summer holiday clubs.

“The school holidays have a great impact on businesses who can find it difficult to manage the needs of employees wanting to take leave at the same time. Parents may need to take time off from work to care for their children during the school holidays.

“By saving up childcare vouchers parents are better able to manage the costs of activities and holiday clubs, and are less likely to require time off due to a lack of childcare. Childcare vouchers can therefore be hugely important in helping both parents and their employers to get through the summer holiday season.

“National Childcare Week is an important time to reinforce the message about the benefits and savings that Childcare Vouchers bring to working parents”

Daycare Trust’s National childcare week, now in its 15th year, aims to promote the importance of childcare, extended schools, and early years provision for children which helps to strengthen children’s play and learning to provide a good foundation for their future.
