Custom software development company, Amadeus Consulting’s, own John Basso, chief information officer, recently won the Colorado Association for Recycling Award. The award recognizes individuals, government and corporate organizations for their excellence in recycling or promotion of recycling.
Basso was recognized under the “Outstanding Business Recycling/Diversion Program” category, which is given to a company or organization whose work and/or innovation has furthered and expanded recycling in Colorado. Basso co-founded the recycling program at Amadeus Consulting that educates employees about the importance of trash diversion and reducing, reusing, and recycling. As a result, Amadeus Consulting now only produces two bags of trash per week.
“This honor is much-deserved for John and his sustainability efforts. Such recognition helps spread the word about the importance of implementing eco-friendly practices into the workplace and in our communities,” said Lisa Calkins, CEO of Amadeus Consulting.
Basso’s innovative efforts to promote sustainability in the workplace extend beyond the local level. Basso expanded his sustainability knowledge and efforts by launching a program in 2008 called Business Leaders in Action for Sustainability Today (BLAST!). The community-based program has trained dozens of companies on simple and effective solutions for implementing eco-friendly initiatives throughout the work environment. Such efforts have awarded him local and national recognition for his sustainability efforts that impact business growth. His passion to reduce his own carbon footprint one step at a time makes him an appropriate and deserving nominee for the Colorado Association for Recycling Award.
“Winning the CAFR award is an inspiration for me to continue to work to create a more sustainable business environment for our community,” said John Basso, chief information officer.
Official awards were presented on Monday, June 11, 2012 at the Recycling Awards Gala at the 23rd annual CAFR Summit for Recycling conference in Pueblo, Colorado, June 10-12, 2012.
