NJ to Limit Work History Use in Hiring Process Notes Bay Area Employment Lawyer

New Jersey lawmakers have proposed laws to limit or bar employers from using unemployment status and gaps in work history in hiring decisions.

As we are experiencing a huge job slump many people are experiencing gaps in employment. This unemployment status is negatively affecting workers, who can’t find jobs because employers are only seeking currently employed workers. “While we hope that this law will boost employment there are issues with enforcement,” explains Eric Grover, a Bay Area employment lawyer. “New Jersey may be on the right track, and it will be interesting to gauge the impact if other states adopt similar plans.”
