According to reports, the “EasyRa1n.com” team has completed the unlock and untethered jailbreak of Apple’s iOS 5.0.1 mobile operating system, version 5.0.1, for the iPhone 4, the 3GS, the iPod Touch 4G and the iPad 1. Previously, david had dispatched his jailbreak project to EasyRa1n-team. While the EasyRa1n-team have put 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak in to “EasyRa1n”, the team, on the other hand, have put untethered jailbreak iPhone 4/4S iOS 5.0.1 and unlock iPhone 4/4s iOS 5.0.1 into a “Cydia” package.
If you have one of the recommended devices – the iPhone 4, the 3GS, the iPod Touch 4G and the iPad 1 – and still haven’t updated to 5.0.1 yet, it is advisable to do so as soon as possible, since the SHSH window is still open for 5.0.1. And, if you unlock via “gevey” or “ultrasn0w”, now you can unlock iPhone 4/4S ioS 5.0.1 Using EasyRa1n. Once you’re at 5.0.1, you will have to use the latest “EasyRa1n” to both jailbreak and unlock iOS 5.0.1.
In all the apparent excitement, many of you will have rather hastily overwritten a previous jailbreak and leapt blindly into the glorified untethered universe. Unfortunately though, this meant for many that MobileSubstrate – a key element of most of the the better Cydia tweaks and apps – kept crashing, rendering the jailbreak somewhat restrictive. It has been nearly eight weeks since the first declaration by dave that he had found a bug that he believed could provide an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1. We find ourselves exactly fifty days down the line, and what I imagine has been a lot of sleepless nights for the developers involved, but we now officially have the release of an untethered jailbreak and unlock iPhone 4/4S iOS 5.0.1. It seems that his instincts were correct as only five days after that decision was made, we are seeing a release of a jailbreak for A4 and A5 devices on iOS 5.0.1 which has been implemented by EasyRa1n.com Team.
The iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak contains the exact same set of files that easyra1n provided to the Team, and can be distributed as either a download via Cydia by searching for a package named ‘EasyRa1n’, for users who are already jailbroken tethered, or through a EasyRa1n bundle for users who have running stock iOS and have been waiting for this untether.
