Sparkloft Media, based in Portland, Oregon, was recognized for supporting clients with innovative work within the social media sphere in 2011. The firm’s work with clients on Facebook and Twitter earned three distinguished awards within the travel and tourism sectors.

South African Tourism earned a Travel Weekly Gold Magellan Award for a promotional campaign where Sparkloft Media provided creative collaboration and social media management. Additionally, the firm’s work with One&Only Resorts and the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau received two Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) Silver Adrian Awards.

“We’re honored to be able to work with clients that give us the opportunities to develop cutting edge campaigns like the ones recognized with these awards,” said Martin Stoll, founder and CEO of Sparkloft Media. “This recognition speaks to the successful partnerships with our clients.”

South African Tourism earned the highest placing award in the Destinations Advertising/Marketing Campaign category for its work surrounding “The Bachelor” promotional campaign titled “Love Is In The Air.”

“We are quite pleased with Sparkloft Media’s ability to facilitate true integration between our traditional campaigns and the world of social media,” said Sthu Zungu, President of South African Tourism North America. “Our ‘Love is in the Air’ campaign was the perfect example of the wholistic thinking that led to, amongst others, recognition by Travel Weekly.”

Sparkloft Media contributed to the campaign by growing South Africa Tourism’s Facebook fan base by 79%, attracting a Twitter reach of more than 1 million people and contributing to “The Bachelor Finale” being the number one Google search topic on March 14, 2011.

The firm also worked on the Silver Adrian Award winning campaign with One&Only Resorts, which was recognized within the Public Relations division. The winning communication strategy and engagement process produced a Facebook fan increase of 217% and engagement increase of 286%. A key component of this work was building an organic fan base of individuals who accurately represent the resort’s target demographic.

Sparkloft Media’s work with the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau also won a Silver Adrian Award in the division of Digital Marketing Excellence. The recognized Facebook campaign, titled “Share our Sunshine,” included a five-week sweepstakes and a grand prize photo contest. The campaign ushered a 318% increase in Facebook fans, increased page views by 714% and included nearly 3,400 entries to the contest.

“These awards bring to close a year full of innovative campaigns and client partnerships that we are proud to have contributed to,” Stoll said.

In August 2011, Sparkloft Media was recognized for its development of Facebook tabs (http://budurl.com/qy8f). Five of the firm’s Facebook tabs were highlighted in an article on TravelOnlinePartners.com, which focused on work of tourism organizations. Sparkloft Media’s featured pages included Visit Sedona, coolcapitals, Tourism Fiji, Illinois Route 66 Scenic Byway and Visit Austin.

In September 2011, the firm received media coverage for its work developing FriendFareFinder, a social airfare booking application that helps users easily find the lowest airfares to visit their Facebook friends. More recently, the firm adapted this application for Germanwings, one of the most successful low-cost airlines in Europe.

Sparkloft Media, a division of GoSeeTell Network Inc., provides a wide range of services, including social media strategy development, social media campaign management and implementation services as well as social software development. The firm’s clients include some of the most innovative organizations in travel and tourism around the world in addition to consumer/lifestyle brands, government, non-profit and economic development organizations. In 2009, GoSeeTell Network Inc. made headlines when it created the world’s first “Twisitor Center,” a Twitter-based visitor information center that crowd-sources travel tips for destinations.
