Slow Down! Thousands of 100-mph Speeding Tickets Issued in Texas

The Texas Highway Patrol wrote 3,726 citations for drivers traveling 100 mph or more last year, reports the Longview car accident attorney.

After Texas voted to raise the speed limit to 85-mph in some areas, it doesn’t look like this trend will decrease any time soon. Now that motorists can legally travel at 85 mph, it’s likely that drivers will exceed that limit by at least 10 mph and up, to the 100-mph mark. Traveling at these speeds increases the stopping distance, gives less reaction time and can cause a driver to lose control, leading to a life-threatening or fatal crash, reports Longview Car Accident Attorney Gregg Price.
