FDA to ban 500 unapproved prescription cough, cold and allergy drugs

The drugs have not been approved by the FDA for safety and effectiveness, and they may be riskier to take than approved over-the-counter drugs.

I’m really surprised of the amount of unapproved prescription cold drugs on the market. That is very shocking to consumers, because I think it is widely believed that if it is a “prescription drug” that it is already approved by the FDA. I know I was one of those believers. The prescription drug industry needs to be more strictly regulated.
