June 24, 2010 – Orlando, FL (WiredPRNews.com) Today HITEC, the world’s largest hospitality technology event, saw the last attendees of their 2010 exhibit. The show provided participants with a chance to view the latest hotel technologies, network with industry veterans from around the world and gain insight to trends that may affect their markets.
One of HITEC’s highlights is Guestroom 20X. This unique project demonstrates how future guestrooms can mix in-demand innovations consumers are coming to expect with a soft delivery to make time in a hotel room the ultimate experience. This year’s Guestroom 20X featured three types of technology – those that are still concept prototypes, products in beta testing and technologies already on the market. Items highlighted included an in-room touch screen providing guests access to hotel services and amenities, Samsung’s 3D television, a UV light toothbrush sanitizer and heated toilet seat equipped with LED lights.
Although each of the 30 featured technologies in the futuristic guest room were impressive, one stood out as being both cutting edge and useful. That technology was SAFLOK’s integrations with OpenWays CAC, a combination that enables the guest to bypass hotel check in and unlock the hotel room door with their personal cell phone. This application is being beta tested in a Houston, TX hotel with hopes of soon being available throughout the United States.
Companies are already preparing for the 2011 HITEC show that will be held June 20 – 23 in Austin, TX. For more information on next year’s show visit www.hitec.org
