Providence, RI – A school bus was rear-ended by an automobile Tuesday, June 22, 2010, which caused three children, the driver of the bus and the car to be sent to area hospitals, as reported by ABC6.com.
The bus was struck while at a stop sign, according to Bonnie Bastian, a spokeswoman for school bus company First Student. The bus was transporting children from Spaziano Elementary School. It was the kids’ last day of school.
Three students were transported by ambulance to Hasbro Children’s Hospital as a precautionary measure, as they were reportedly complaining of neck and back injuries. Fire Chief Timothy McDaniel reported the children were between the ages of eight and 10-years old.
McDaniel reported that the bus driver was extremely upset after the collision. She and the other driver, whose vehicle was wedged under the bus up to its windshield, were taken to Rhode Island Hospital.
The First Student spokeswoman reported that she was unaware if any people had been released.
