Nahsua, NH – A New Hampshire woman was forced to jump from her speeding vehicle after her 1998 Honda Civic began barreling down Route 3 on Sunday, June 13, 2010, as reported by www.wmur.com.
Rebecca Storm, 25, was faced with the options of participating in a high-speed crash or jumping from the vehicle after her car began accelerating. The woman claimed she tried everything in her powers to stop the Civic, including pushing both feet on the brake and enlisting the use of the emergency brake.
She explained, “When I opened up the door and I looked down and saw the pavement running, you know, you have that split second when it’s ‘Is this my final decision, am I really going to lean out right now?’ and I realized I had to make a decision right then and there and I tumbled out.”
Storm suffered bruises, scrapes and chipped teeth from the fall.
She said her car had been serviced for repairs twice the week prior to the incident.
Storm expressed that she was worried the car’s damage was too extreme to find what caused the unstoppable acceleration.
An investigation is underway.
