Washington, DC – On Thursday, May 13, 2010, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada, along with the manufacturer Tommy Hilfiger U.S.A. of New York, announced a voluntary recall of Tommy Hilfiger sweatshirts. Consumers are advised to cease use of the recalled sweatshirts unless otherwise instructed.
Approximately 400 sweatshirts are subject to recall within the United States. In the Canadian market, some 1,200 garments are being recalled. The garments were manufactured in Indonesia.
According to the CPSC, the recalled sweatshirts failed to meet federal flammability standards for wearable apparel. They pose burn risks to consumers.
Though the risk is present, no incidents or injuries were reported.
The recall is centered around Tommy Hilfiger brand children’s sweatshirts sold in sizes from 4-16. The garments have the letters “N.Y.C.” and “Hilfiger College” printed on the front.
The sweatshirts were sold in three styles:

Description: Black zippered sweatshirt
The jackets were sold at Tommy Hilfiger retail stores across the nation, Macy’s Herald Square in New York and online, at www.Tommy.com. They were on the market from August 2009 until January 2010. They retailed between $50 and $70.
Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled sweatshirts and to contact Tommy Hilfiger U.S.A. at (800) 866-6922 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 12 a.m., ET. Consumers are also told to visit the company’s website for information, at www.tommy.com.
