The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is investigating a multiple car pile-up on 15 Freeway South that left a family of four people dead and injured three others. 

A Moreno Valley High School football coach, his wife, and his two young children were involved in the fatal collision that took place on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at around 12:35 p.m., claiming all four of their lives.

The fatal motor vehicle accident involved three semi-trucks, a U-Haul truck, and two passenger vehicles. The (CHP) reported that the family was traveling in a vehicle that was sandwiched between two big rigs which burst into flames. 

The two adults and two young children were pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency crews. The deceased victims were identified as Ryan Villalpando, 32; his wife Veronica Villalpando; their son Mateo, 4, and infant Bella Rose. 

Three other victims sustained injuries non life-threatening injuries and were treated at a local area hospital. A full investigation into the accident is ongoing.
