Video footage of shows San Francisco city bus driver, truck driver running stop signs, 9 injured

//Erin Musquiz/ 01/14/2010

If it wasn’t for a few strategically placed cameras, the details in a severe wreck involving a pickup truck and a San Francisco Muni city bus would still be unknown.

According to San Francisco transportation officials, the video footage shows both drivers appeared to have each run stop signs just before the collision occurred at the intersection of De Haro and 18th streets just past midnight on Tuesday.

The footage from cameras mounted on the bus captured the screech of the bus’ brakes and the unmistakable sound of shattering glass as the two vehicles collided.

Nine people were injured, including the driver of the Muni bus, Pete Pon, and the driver of the pickup truck, whose name has not been released.

All injuries were considered serious.

Officials say neither drugs or alcohol does not appear to have been factors in the motor vehicle accident.
