After the drupa and the Graph Expo it is the turn for ALL in Print to make its mark. The two expos earlier were eye openers although drupa was a little expensive for those who had to use the US dollar and this has proved to be dampener for the later shows.
All in print 2008 opened on Nov 14 in Shanghai to be very willingly accepted by the printing industry. This has been co hosted by the Printing Technology Association of China, the China Academy of Printing Technology (a governmental organization and Messe Düsseldorf who also promoted the drupa exhibition).more than 700 manufacturers from more than 20 countries participated in the event. It was an impressive event covering not only a large number of participants but the exhibitors had large spaces too in fact it was double that of the Graph Expo which was held earlier in Chicago.
In china the emphasis on printing is more than it is in the US as it is making a transition from an agrarian economy to a consumption-oriented one. Apart from this China’s population is double that of US so the demand is also greater and the large manufacturing base caters to the export market too. All this creates a huge demand for packaging materials and other materials too.
The all in print exhibition had all specialized shows together under one roof. E.g. screen-printing, flexography, and other technical processes were put under one roof which was a great boon for those who wanted information on all these areas. Shanghai exhibition center has six buildings, which were able to cater to six specialties of the printing industry.
